The Benefits of Healthy Coffee

A debate that has been raging for the last few years boils down to one basic thought: is healthy coffee a myth or a reality? Many researchers believe that the health benefits of drinking a cup of coffee greatly outweigh the supposed ill effects of the drink. There is so much information available on the pros and cons of drinking coffee that many consumers are becoming confused. Is coffee a healthy drink or is it harmful to the body and best avoided? Let’s try to answer that question.

What Is Healthy Coffee?

First, let’s define what healthy coffee is. Healthy coffee is an eight ounce cup of regular black coffee with no added whitening agents, flavorings, or sugar. When consumed as a basic product with no additives, coffee is a low fat, low sugar, low calorie beverage. It is when the consumer starts to add items like cream, milk, flavored syrups, and chocolate that the drink starts becoming unhealthy. Some of the coffee drinks sold in coffee shops can have as many calories as a ½ pound cheeseburger from a leading fast food restaurant.

What Benefits Does Healthy Coffee Provide?

Recent studies have suggested that healthy coffee can provide a variety of health benefits to consumers. The antioxidant properties of coffee are highly prized and can help reduce the risk of cancer in some individuals. These antioxidant properties also act as anti-inflammatory agents, protecting the body from minor injury. Healthy coffee has also been found to ease and speed the passage of waste in the bowels, reducing the risk of constipation and hemorrhoids.

It is also believed that the consumption of healthy coffee may reduce an individual’s risk of developing diabetes. Studies have found that individuals that drink more than three cups of coffee daily reduced their risk of developing diabetes by about 20%. If those cups were filled with decaf coffee, the percentage jumped to between 30 to 40 percent. Studies are still trying to determine why this link between healthy coffee and diabetes exists and researchers are trying to find a way to apply these findings to daily life.

Although healthy coffee does not belong in the same category as fruit juice and water for healthiest drinks, it certainly is better for you than first believed. Coffee will never replace the fruits, vegetables, and grains that are so important to our daily diet, but it may prove to be a welcome addition to them. The antioxidant properties of healthy coffee may prove to keep us healthy as well.

A Guide to Espresso Machines

The process of choosing espresso machines can be incredibly difficult and even overwhelming, as there are seemingly endless options out there for you to choose from. However, as with any other product, there are certain espresso machines that stand out from among the rest and it these which you should really take into consideration, as they offer the best in quality and value.

The Best Espresso Machines

The Ambiente-Junior is definitely one of the best commercial espresso machines on the market today, and the machine will grind whole beans, tamp, brew and will then discharge the used grounds into a container. You get a consistent and perfectly extracted espresso, cup after cup.

This machine is available with two integrated grinders for two different bean blends, and there is also an optional bean hopper extension, which helps by extending the coffee bean hopper to a 1.5kg capacity. Best of all is the AutoSteam wand feature, which offers an integrated sensor that monitors the temperature of the milk during steaming and shuts off automatically when it reaches the ideal temperature. This means that you no longer have to spend time steaming milk in front of the machine.

Another great option is the Bugatti espresso machine, which is one that combines racy style with high performance. It yields rich and full-bodied espresso with a fine amber crème, and its efficiency derives mainly from a time-honored combination of ideal water temperature, high brewing pressure and brief extraction time. The three Thermo Block heating elements and a powerful 15-bar pump system are to thank for this.

Of all the available espresso machines the Bugatti is considered as being the most time efficient, as you can brew a delicious cup of espresso in under five minutes. As well, a dial gauge that is marked with coffee and steam readings, letting you know when the machine is ready for your desired function, making espresso brewing that much easier.

Then there is also the Impressa F50, which is an espresso machine that offers a streamlined silver and black ABS plastic housing that is balanced with various control buttons in alternating colors. The digital system featured on this machine provides easy access to every option available, and this includes temperature control, adjustable liquid dosing, and auto-on.

There are numerous other machines that you can choose from as well, although those mentioned here are definitely the best of the best. An espresso machine is truly an essential kitchen appliance in this day and age, and so you definitely want to make sure that you have one on hand in your own kitchen.

Coffee Table Set – The Place Where Women Relax Best

I read somewhere a very beautiful description of the coffee table set – it was called, a “conversation centre piece”. Truly, there is no other place where people are not more relaxed and happy to exchange some or other pleasantries than across the coffee table set. Small girls, start early with their coffee table set and the doll cups of coffee/ tea while parents (women) look on.

How Should A Coffee Table Set Look?

Many people ask, should the coffee table set look in a certain way, have a certain platform, be of a certain size or shape? Should it conform to rules? It’s not necessary for you to conform to any rules, unless it is for official and formal parties. However, people in general feel that having a cup of coffee is actually a more serious thing than having a cup of tea.

It looks like tea time is fun time, while the coffee time is business time. Though some think coffee tastes better and keeps you active for a longer time, people prefer tea for picnic and fun times. The trend and outlook towards coffee influence to a great extent the way the coffee table set looks too. The most popular ones are a little austere, nonetheless exceptionally beautiful.

The Most Popular Models

There are many styles of coffee table sets in the world. The best looking are without any doubt the French ones. Just as the British established tea and tea time all over their kingdom, so did the French promote the coffee and coffee furniture. This is what made coffee so popular all over the world. As a matter of fact the French cane sets, glass-topped tables and tiny Indian-style tables are the only ones measuring up to the international quality and standards.

The coffee table can be used for playing cards, gossiping and of course, drinking coffee and having pastries. Little girls the world over imitate this aspect while playing with their dolls. The best coffee table sets are those which are a bit taller than tea tables where you can sit comfortably on a bean-bag chair and play some game or discuss light gossip with close friends.

Of course, cane sets are the best and also the most costly. However, in many places now designer furniture is available in installments, so you should be able to buy whatever you like from wherever you like and enjoy a cozy coffee party at your home.

Coffee Recipe: Bean There, Done That

Once upon a time, long after coffee was discovered, people used to have it mixed with hot water – plain and simple. There was no coffee recipe concept in existence. Out of the blue – and there are no records about the date – people discovered that while rotating and savoring coffee in their mouth, their taste buds could taste bitterness, acidic content, sweetness and saltiness depending upon how the taste buds sent out the taste signals. People felt that if these tastes were mixed with some other food or beverage, then the coffee taste might be enhanced. They started experimenting with coffee by adding milk, chocolate, and other flavors. This was the birth of the coffee recipe.

Evolution Of The Coffee Recipe

The earliest and best-known coffee recipe to mankind is coffee with milk. Maybe people got bored of drinking coffee with hot water or drinking plain milk, but one fine day they decided to mix coffee with milk and the recipe was a super-hit. The coffee recipe inventors literally tasted blood. Coffee marketers joined hands with them and there was no resting now. After milk came chocolate, after chocolate came flavorings, then syrups and then food and then liqueurs too. The coffee recipe brigade just kept marching on!

The Coffee Recipe In The 21st Century

As things stand now, a coffee recipe is used not just in making basic or designer coffees. A great coffee recipe can be a dessert or a sweet – For example, a basic coffee-based candy can be roasted coffee beans covered with chocolate. Coffee is added even to meats because it brings out the meat flavors with a subtle touch – but not a strong touch – of coffee flavor. So a coffee recipe can relate to basic and designer coffees, desserts as well as meat-foods.

Naming A Coffee Recipe

A coffee recipe concoction is usually called by a fancy name. The basic Café Latte is nothing but coffee with steamed milk (Latte is Italian for milk), a Cappuccino is one-third each of espresso, milk and foam! The Turkish Kahwa is nothing but black coffee brewed along with a few spices (cloves, cardamom, and sometimes even ginger), but people want to have a go at it because of its exotic name. Fancy coffees in cafes are often served with a dash of flavorings or syrups such as caramel, almond, hazelnut, vanilla, etc.

Well, we’ve had enough of coffee recipes. It’s time for a break now. Coffee, anyone?

The World Of Flavored Coffee

It wasn’t too long ago that if you asked an individual how they wanted to flavor their coffee they would indicate one of three things. Those three combinations of flavoring could be with cream, with cream and sugar or the addition of an artificial sweetener.

Those flavorings are still available today. However, there is a larger variety of flavored coffee. Some examples of flavored coffee could be hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, Irish cream, etc.

When wishing to sample these flavored coffees, some questions may arise by the coffee drinker. Some of those questions may include how are these flavors obtained and how the flavored coffees are created?

How Are The Flavors Obtained?

The flavoring in flavored coffee can be derived through two methods. The first method is through the use of an extract process.

This extract process actually takes concentrated flavorings from the selected product. Generally this concentrate is then processed utilizing other ingredients to help enhance the flavors. This concentrate is then added to the drink to provide flavored coffee. Often this type of flavoring is obtained through a product that is in syrup form.

The other type of flavored coffee is through the purchase of coffee beans that have the flavor added to them. Often this type of flavoring is a chemical process in which there are certain agents combined with others to simulate the taste of any particular flavoring. That chemically induced flavoring could be vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, etc.

How The Coffees Are Flavored

Before the coffee bean can be used to brew coffee it needs to be roasted. This roasting process takes the natural green coffee bean and causes the coffee bean to brown. This roasting of the coffee bean determines the strength of the coffee flavor. This is because the darker the bean, the more robust is the coffee flavor.

Once this roasting process has been completed the beans are then treated with the chemically induced flavorings. This process creates the flavored coffee

If the individual wants to have flavored coffee, but does not wish for their coffee bean to go through a chemical process, there are other ways to flavor the coffee. One such way is through the use of chicory. Chicory is not only an inexpensive filler used to supplement the brewed coffee, but also provides a uniquely flavored coffee for the coffee drinker to enjoy. In addition, another way of providing naturally flavored coffee is through the use of finely shaved vanilla pods added to the coffee grounds or by adding cocoa to the brewing process.
