Ideas For Homemade Baby Gifts

Sometimes you want to add your own personal touch to a gift that you’re giving for a friend or family member’s baby gift. And while perhaps a lot of searching at local stores will turn something appropriate up, you may have an easier time making homemade baby gifts instead. By creating homemade baby gifts, you show the parents that you’ve put time and thought into the gift that you’re giving. But if you’re stumped on ideas, then here are a few to help you along:

Something Warm

With about 3/4 of a yard of polar fleece, you can easily create little blankets to give as homemade baby gifts. All you need to do is find some with a great pattern, cut it to size, and that will serve as a blanket that won’t fray. Homemade baby gifts like these will look great in the nursery and keep the baby warm. If you want to put a little extra effort into it, sew some edging all along the sides of the blanket, but the fleece will stand fine on its own.

A Pretty Frame

Picture frames can make great homemade baby gifts, though it’s not the frame itself you’re making. Buy a cheap cardboard or wooden picture frame at an art supply store and decorate with acrylics to create a personalized frame that baby pictures can be displayed in. These make great homemade baby gifts whether you’re looking to express your creativity in a personalized gift, but they also make great homemade baby gifts if you have a child in the house who wants to contribute to the baby celebration.

All In The Packaging

Even if your baby gifts aren’t homemade, you can still add a personal touch by giving your gifts in a decorative gift basket. Making these are much like creating Easter baskets, requiring some plastic grass at the bottom, an appropriately colored ribbon, and whatever small items that you want to give to the baby or the baby’s parents. You can include baby care supplies, a book to read to the baby, and a small toy for the child as well, for example.

Don’t feel you need to be limited to baskets as well; other creative packaging ideas include using diaper bags as gift bags, too! Remember, even if you find that you can’t seem to make just the right homemade baby gifts, a sense of fun with the packaging can still add a personal touch. As with all gifts, homemade or otherwise, the spirit in which it is given is the important thing.
